There is an opportunity for you in the coming weeks and months to inform the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) consideration of Disability issues in the UK
(including Northern Ireland).

The Equality Commission for NI and the NI Human Rights Commission, in their role as the Independent Mechanism for Northern Ireland (IMNI), are hosting three free engagement events across Northern Ireland.

Attendance will provide you with an opportunity to:

• Learn about and suggest refinements to disability research being undertaken by QUB on their behalf; and to their proposed policy submissions to the UN Committee regarding key disability issues in Northern Ireland;
• hear how you can best influence and directly engage with the UN Committee to advance disability issues;
• as a group, discuss how you can make a difference by raising key issues with the UN Committee.

The Belfast event will provide an extended opportunity to comment on the emerging findings from the QUB research - “UNCRPD: Shortfalls in public policy and programme delivery in Northern Ireland.”
